Education For Emergency Medical Technicians
The Emergency Medical Technician diploma program at Health Career Institute is a one-semester program, which breaks down to four months and 12 credits. In this program, you will receive 40 hours of ride time and 10 hours of hospital time.
Courses And Descriptions For The Emergency Medical Technician Diploma Program
EMT Lecture / Lab Combined – This course includes both lecture and lab, which will give you experience through practical application in a lab setting. You will learn about patient history, vital signs, CPR, and much more. This course is 11 credits.
EMT Hospital/Field Combined – This will be the clinical portion of earning your diploma. It coincides with the information you will be learning in the lecture/lab listed above. Here you will complete the necessary hours of field and clinical time. This course is 1 credit.
Graduation Requirements For The Emergency Medical Technician Diploma Program
In order to graduate with a diploma from the EMT program, you will need to complete the 7 Module Test which is 35% of your grade, 2 exams which hold 40% weight on your grade, and lastly the final exam, which counts for one quarter of your final grade. You must have a minimum of 70% as this program is a Pass/Fail program.
Once you have successfully completed the above, you will receive your diploma and be able to work in the field.
