Benefits of Going from RN to BSN
You can enter the medical field as a Registered Nurse with an associate degree in nursing. Why not take your career to the next level by getting a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or BSN? There are so many benefits of going from an RN diploma to a BSN.
Why consider getting a BSN?
The BSN degree prepares the Registered Nurse for leadership and management roles in their nursing departments. Like the ASN, students will learn about the nursing profession, technology and techniques, and medical knowledge in order to provide the best care for their patients. Students also learn about managing nursing departments.
Expanding your knowledge in your profession is a benefit to earning a BSN. You will have the knowledge and skills to provide a higher level of care to your patients, as well as the leadership skills to manage a nurse department or medical situation.
Nurses with BSN degrees often make more money than their ASN counterparts. Some hospitals will only hire Registered Nurses who have a BSN as well. The BSN opens many more doors for your nursing career.
Advancing your nursing career?
BSN credentials mean that nurses can go beyond basic floor patient care. RNs are not permitted to perform certain types of care, but a BSN would qualify the nurse for other positions within the hospital or clinic. Nurses with a BSN are able to do more for their patients.
The skills you learn in your BSN program are more technical. While an ASN is a great way to start a career in nursing, the BSN expands upon that knowledge and increases your technical skills in the field.
Career advancement is only possible for nurses with a BSN or higher. If you wish to advance beyond an RN career, you will need to earn a BSN. Nurse managers require a BSN and at least two years of experience in management.
The BSN program at HCI is 120 credit hours that will prepare you for a career in professional nursing. You can complete the degree fully online with a flexible schedule. If you have credits from another nursing program, you may be able to transfer up to 60 credits into this degree. Contact us at 561-586-0121 to learn more.
