What is the RN to BSN Program?
To earn a BSN, you must complete 120 credit hours of classes and training. HCI offers the courses 100% online so that you can continue to meet your current work and life responsibilities.
The goals of the program are integrating the knowledge, ethical principles, and clinical excellence in nursing, as well as a holistic approach to patients.
BSN candidates should also be able to demonstrate the cognitive ability to comprehend, apply, and evaluate the clinical information relative to his or her role in Nursing.
Core courses in the BSN program include Transitional Nursing Role Perspectives, Advanced Pathophysiology for Nursing, Heritage of Nursing Concepts/Theories, Advance Health Assessment, Nursing Care for the Geriatric Patients, Nursing Research and Informatics, and Leadership and Management in Professional Nursing.
Other core courses include Community Health Nursing, Nursing Perspectives/Global Trends, Clinical Decision Making/Critical Thinking, Nursing in a Multicultural Society, and finally the Capstone experience.
BSN Program Length
BSN candidates must already have their RN diplomas or ASN program completed. The BSN program at HCI takes what you already know from the field and dives deeper.
Semesters are maximized at 9 credit hours. You can take more courses, go year-round, or take fewer courses and split up your semesters. The RN-to-BSN program takes anywhere from 12 months to 24 months to complete.
