Understanding the Fire Science Degree Program

What is the Fire Science Degree Program
Firefighters learn technical skills for their jobs. The Fire Science Degree goes beyond the technical skills needed for being a good firefighter to the science behind it. Learn how fires start, the different ways to stop them, how construction has a role in fire prevention and in firefighting, and so much more.
The first 36 college credits of the program include courses like Fire Prevention Practices, Fire Fighting Tactics and Strategy 1 and 2, Blueprint Reading and Plan Examination, Company Officer, and Leadership. Some of the other core courses include Private Fire Protection Systems 1, Fire Service Course Design, and Microcomputer Applications.
Nine college credits are reserved for electives. You have several Fire Science electives to choose, depending on your interests and career goals.
