Health Career Institute offers three associate programs for prospective students who are looking to begin classes January 11, 2016: Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Science.

Associate of Science in Nursing at HCI

HCIs Associate of Science in Nursing is a degree program that requires 72 credits to complete.  The main focus of this program is to provide students with nursing skills that can be used in many different situations and emergencies. 

As a prospective nurse, its important to know about wellness, critical care concepts, and leadership, all of which you may be able to learn through HCIs ASN degree program.  Upon completion of the program, your goal can be to work towards a career as a registered nurse.  After graduation, you may become eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) which is an exam needed in order to be able to work as a registered nurse within your state.  After passing the NCLEX-RN, you may have a better chance at finding a position in your field.

Associate of Science in Emergency Medical Services at HCI

HCIs EMS Associate Degree Program is a great option for those who either want to become EMTs or already are EMTs and are looking to advance in their careers.  HCI  requires general education courses in English Composition I, English Composition II or SPC 2608 Speech Communications, Liberal Arts Mathematics or MTA 1030 Intermediate Algebra, Introduction to Psychology, History of the USA: A Survey to 1877, along with the EMT-Basic and EMT-Paramedic curriculum, you will be on your way towards your associate degree in emergency medical services.

At HCI, an EMT-Basic diploma is a prerequisite for EMT-Paramedic.  As an EMT-Basic, courses help to prepare you to determine a patients condition and handle cardiac, trauma, and respiratory emergencies.  Courses in Paramedic training are more rigorous and can prepare students to operate in a prehospital setting at a higher level than those at the EMT-Basic level.  As an EMT-Paramedic, you can learn about advanced first aid, cardiac monitoring, and train on-site in emergency rooms and ambulances.

Associate of Science in Fire Science at HCI

This Associate Degree program is available for trained firefighters who are looking to work towards advancement in their careers.  Students can receive the tools they need in this program for a supervisory position within fire service.  After graduation from HCI, students could be prepared to go for their certifications for Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, and Fire Inspector.
